Welcome to Dis' & Dat', where creativity meets sustainability. Discover the passion behind our unique handcrafted items and learn about the journey of Mayatwofeathers and Rasta Huie, two individuals dedicated to transforming discarded materials into treasures.

Our inspiration: creating from what's around
Mayatwofeathers and Rasta Huie have spent their entire lives creating beautiful items from recycled, reused, or readily available materials. Our environmentally conscious approach drives us to transform old into new. Rasta Huie has honed his carving skills for approximately 40 years, using only hand tools. Each piece is carefully cut, carved, and sanded with calm and intentional energy. Embracing his Rastafarian culture, he cherishes natural materials and is mindful of his environmental impact. Mayatwofeathers has been an environmentalist since childhood. She gathers items from nature, discarded bits from others, or leftovers from other crafts, determined to minimize waste and infuse her creative touch into every piece.

The uniqueness in every piece
Each item at Dis' & Dat' is a one-of-a-kind treasure. We predominantly use natural materials to ensure a light footprint on our planet. Our creations aim to have a minimal impact while bringing a touch of whimsy, magic, and beauty into your home. From felt garlands to wire dragonflies and intricate driftwood hangings, every piece tells its own unique story.

Our values: natural living and shared beauty
At Dis' & Dat', we deeply value a natural way of being. We believe in creating things that support a simple life and share some beauty with the world. Our commitment to sustainability, creativity, and community guides every decision we make, ensuring that our crafts are not only beautiful but also kind to the earth. We are proud to offer items like knitted and felt mushrooms and hand-sewn felted ornaments, all crafted with love and purpose.
Meet the creators behind Dis' & Dat'
Rasta Huie, a Rastafarian from Jamaica for 61 years, recently immigrated to Canada to join his wife of 21 years, Mayatwofeathers. Simple and nature-minded, he has perfected the art of hand carving. He often uses dead wood or discarded furniture, occasionally working with specialty wood for custom orders or truly unique pieces. Mayatwofeathers is passionate about preventing waste. She loves utilizing scraps from other projects, discarded bits, and natural elements like stones, sticks, gourds, and shells. Her focus is on materials that minimize environmental impact, finding creative ways to use and transform leftovers.
"The commitment to creating beautiful things from repurposed materials is truly inspiring. Each piece from Dis' & Dat' feels like it has a story."
